Beers Made By Walking Nature Tour at the Berggren Watershed Conservation Area

Thursday, June 4 from 6 - 8 pm

This hike will showcase a place where farming and conservation come together. Located along the scenic lower McKenzie River, the Berggren Watershed Conservation Area is home to a healthy floodplain forest and a restoration area where red alders, cedars, ash trees, and Oregon grape are taking root. The property is also home to the Berggren Demonstration Farm, which grows chickens, ducks and goats on certified organic pasture, produces a diverse array of nutritious vegetables and herbs, and much more! Led by Demonstration Farm coordinator, Jared Pruch, hikers will explore this dynamic land and its abundance.

About Beers Made By Walking

Beers Made By Walking is a program that invites brewers to make beer inspired by nature hikes and urban walks. Each walk is different, each beer is a portrait of that landscape. The program happens in multiple cities each year.

This year, Beers Made By Walking chose to collaborate with the McKenzie River Trust on the Eugene-area hikes. Local hikes this summer will be led by volunteer naturalists and local brewers. The hikes will focus on edible and medicinal plants and inspire a series of beers that will serve as drinkable, landscape portraits of the lands and rivers protected by the McKenzie River Trust in the Willamette Valley.

Upcoming Hikes:
June 4th at the Berggren Watershed Conservation Area
June 27th at Green Island (hike offered during the Living River Celebration)
July 30th at the Hagens’ Confluence Farms

Mark your calendars for the November 5th Release Party at the Bier Stein!
