We'll be exploring Green Island, the site of our annual Living River Celebration. Green Island is the former farmland of the Green Family, and it's now an active land conservation area. This is the McKenzie River Trust’s largest protected property, and it presents one of the best remaining opportunities within the Willamette Valley for preserving and restoring a dynamic and ecologically diverse river system. The island is home to all kinds of wildlife and plants, including historic hop vines.

We will be joined on this hike by Tobias Schock, brewer for Agrarian Ales, Scott Siebert, lead brewer for Falling Sky, Jamie Floyd, co-founder of Ninkasi Brewing, and Tyler West, head brewer for Oakshire Brewing.

Registration onsite the day of the event

This tour is limited to 25 adults - first come, first served onsite.

About Beers Made By Walking

Beers Made By Walking is a program that invites brewers to make beer inspired by nature hikes and urban walks. Each walk is different, each beer is a portrait of that landscape. The program happens in multiple cities each year.

This is the second year that Beers Made By Walking and McKenzie River Trust will collaborate on the Eugene-area hikes. Local hikes this summer will be led by volunteer naturalists and local brewers. The hikes will focus on edible and medicinal plants and inspire a series of beers that will serve as drinkable, landscape portraits of the lands and rivers protected by the McKenzie River Trust in the Willamette Valley.

Mark your calendars for the November 8th Release Party at the Bier Stein!
